Flexion
distraction technique is a gentle, non-surgical form of
chiropractic spinal manipulation that produces an accessory
motion to the spine. The procedure can reduce pain,
re-establish lost spinal motion and remission of radiating
pains down the leg.
During the procedure, the patient lays on
their stomach as the doctor palpates the spine and the table
begins to move. The procedure relieves p ressure on the
vertebrae discs, increases disc height and increases the
size of the foramina, where the nerve roots exist. This
technique has been correlated to help failed back surgical
syndrome, disc herniations, ruptured discs, bulging discs,
sciatica, stenosis, failed courses of steroid injections,
spondylolisthesis and more.
